The programme prepares graduates for advanced roles in academia, research, and higher education. Graduates may contribute through teaching, scholarly publication, supervision, and the development of new knowledge in Islamic civilization and related humanities disciplines.

Islamic Heritage & Cultural Research

Graduates may pursue research and specialist roles involving Islamic heritage, manuscripts, history, culture, philosophy, intellectual traditions, and civilizational development within universities, research institutes, museums, archives, and cultural organisations.

Policy & Civilizational Studies

The programme equips graduates to contribute research and informed perspectives to policy, cultural development, social issues, and initiatives involving Islamic civilization, human development, ethics, history, and contemporary society.

Consultancy & Thought Leadership

Graduates may apply their advanced interdisciplinary knowledge in consultancy, research advisory, publishing, cultural programmes, institutional development, and professional roles requiring expertise in Islamic thought and civilization.

Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:

  • A recognised Master’s Degree in Islamic Civilization, Islamic Studies, Humanities, or a related field recognised by the University Senate; or
  • Any other qualification equivalent to a Master’s Degree recognised by the Malaysian Government.

Candidates who do not possess qualifications or relevant work experience in the field or a related field may be required to undertake prerequisite courses.

English Language Proficiency (Additional Requirement for International Students)

International applicants are required to fulfil the English language competency requirements prescribed through a recognised English language qualification such as:

  • MUET; or
  • IELTS; or
  • TOEFL; or
  • An equivalent recognised English language qualification.

Exemptions may apply to applicants from countries where English is an official language, applicants whose previous qualification was conducted entirely in English, or applicants who obtained their qualification from a Malaysian higher education institution.
